A husband whose wife told friends she was leaving him has been seized by police in Argentina after she was found dead with their newborn baby outside their home.

The victim, named only as Olga, 29, was discovered on the pavement with her three-month-old daughter outside the apartment block in Buenos Aires.

Olga had moved to Argentina from Russia with her partner but had told friends at her old home in Ufa, Bashkortostan, that the marriage was over.

Police arrested her husband, named in local media as Tagir, who claims she committed suicide.

One friend of Olga’s named as Taisiya told local media: “We know her husband only vaguely.

“Strangely, there’s not a single photo of him with her; she only posted in her stories, saying she’s in love and everything is fine.”

The couple married in September last year and then left Russia.

Taisiya continued: “Olga wrote to me that initially, they lived in Georgia, then moved to Turkey.

“This spring, she said she was expecting a baby and flying to Argentina.”

She says Olga told her: “We migrated completely to a new life, a new country, a new family. We’re expecting a baby.”

After Olga and her baby’s death, all photos showing her with her husband mysteriously disappeared from her social media accounts.

Tagir has told police his wife suffered from depression and told him she wanted to kill herself.

Taisiya added: “We don’t know if her husband could be involved in her death and the baby’s death.

“The only thing we know is that Olga called her close friend at the last moment before her death, but we don’t know what she wanted to say.

“Her friend didn’t answer the phone, and she now feels deeply guilty about it.”

The investigation is ongoing.
