This is the moment a romantic proposal where a man drops on his knees and offers flowers to his beloved turns into a massive fight when a second admirer wades in with fists flailing.

The bizarre love triangle played out on a street in St Petersburg in Russia on 29th October.

In the footage, a young woman can be seen standing in front of a man who drops down onto his knees and hands her a bouquet of roses wrapped in orange paper.

He appears to be telling her of his deep love but she does not seem to be interested and before she has a chance to reply, another man in an orange top marches over and shoves her to one side before attacking the man on his knees.

However, he is clearly not expecting the reaction from his opponent, who gets a blow in first and sends the man in the orange top falling flat onto the street.

They then end up rolling around on the ground with the man with the bouquet using the flowers to strike his rival and also at one point sitting on his back and locking his head between his legs.

The footage ends with the two men still fighting, with the man wielding the bouquet of flowers appearing to have the upper hand.

The incident apparently happened on the city’s Composer Street and it is not known how it ended, with the young woman keeping a safe distance away and seemingly watching uninterestedly as they battle it out.

The video of the incident went viral on Russian social media, notching up nearly 200,000 views on one platform alone and garnering numerous comments.
