This is the horror-movie moment a deranged zombie hunter with a machete shrugs off being shot seven times by police after attacking a mum and child.
Shocking video footage of police tackling the man in Lyubertsy, Moscow Oblast, Russia, shows him getting up from a series of increasingly desperate attempts to subdue him.
First, he barely registers being rammed by what appears to be an unmarked police car as he crosses a road with armed uniformed officers in pursuit on foot.
Instead, being knocked head over heels onto the tarmac just seems to enrage him as he jumps straight up and turns to charge the officers while brandishing his machete.
Snarling, he runs at them full pelt as one desperate officer fires seven times while he shuffles backwards, but still does not stop the attacker.
In fact, the officer has to hurl himself backwards to miss a vicious slash with the razor-sharp blade.
The attacker only stops his charge when his legs give way underneath him, and two officers punch and kick him repeatedly in the head and back.
But even then, he still tries to get back up and is only beaten down when a group of four offers press him face down onto the pavement.
He was taken to hospital and astonishingly survived, according to local media.
Police later named the machete-wielding suspect as jobless Roman Kontselidze, 36, who has a criminal record for robbery and theft.
Local media reported that he had stabbed a mum and her 14-year-old child because he believed he was being pursued by zombies.
Both victims survived and were treated at a hospital for stab wounds.
The local prosecutor’s office said: “The prosecutor’s office took control of establishing the circumstances of an attack by an armed man on passers-by in the city of Lyubertsy.
“A man, allegedly armed with a machete, inflicted bodily injuries on several passers-by. Law enforcement officers neutralised and detained the attacker.”
A criminal case has now been opened against Kontselidze, who is charged with the attempted murder of two people.
He is said to have just been released from a psychiatric hospital a day before the incident.
