Astonished police who busted a busy brothel in Moscow found that many of the sex workers were actually immigrant transvestites.

The truth emerged after Russian police raided the “very high demand” venue on 26th October when a disgruntled customer tipped them off.

Local media reported that most of the prostitutes were Uzbek and Kyrgyzstani migrants.

And many of the ‘girls’ on offer, they say, turned out to be transvestites.

It is not known if punters were told they were seeing a transvestite or if they were kept in the dark.

A police video of the raid shows officers talking to three of the sex workers all dressed as women but with very deep voices.

The people behind the brothel could now face up to five years in prison.

It is unclear what penalties the transvestites and other call girls face but police will be checking whether they have legal immigration documents.

LGBT rights in Russia have been subjected to a harsh crackdown over the last few years.

Local polls show the majority of Russians support tough laws discriminating against homosexuals and other members of the LGBT community.

Prostitution is illegal in Russia, with sex workers facing fines and pimps facing prison time if caught.
